Dealing with Angry People and Dealing with Difficult Coworkers

Dealing with Angry People
This course provides awareness of those things that may cause anger and discontentment in those with whom you deal with daily and methods to defuse situations and achieve good results. Attendees will learn to develop strategies for dealing with angry people by understanding the interplay between the communication process and the need to adopt listening/speaking skills using various media.

Dealing with Difficult Co-Workers
This course will provide attendees with an understanding of the various difficult co-worker types and methods which may be used to develop cooperation to achieve a non-hostile work environment. This course will explain the importance of why employees should try to resolve negative issues and the consequences of unresolved issues with difficult coworkers.

As a Training Specialist for the Health and Safety Division of the Bureau of Worker’s Compensation, Juan Mayo is responsible for developing and conducting a wide and varied range of educational safety related courses to the general public and various members of the Pennsylvania Workers’ Comp regulated community.

Juan is a retired Air Force Master Sergeant and Navy veteran. He has nine years of experience as a health and safety professional and over twenty years of experience in the Human Resources Management/Personnel Administration field.

Juan has an Advanced Safety Certificate from the National Safety Council, is an American Red Cross instructor for CPR/AED/First Aid certification and an OSHA Authorized General Industry Trainer.

As a Training Specialist for the Health and Safety Division of the Bureau of Worker’s Compensation, Stephen (Steve) Pakosh is responsible for developing and conducting a wide and varied range of educational safety related courses to the general public and various members of the Pennsylvania Workers’ Comp regulated community.


Steve has over forty years’ experience as a safety, health, environmental, and training professional. During his career, he has worked for the health care, manufacturing, insurance, and service industries, as well as having been a contracted safety and health professional for the Federal Government. In addition, Steve has a degree in Fire Service Technology and over forty years' experience as both a career and volunteer fire fighter, including many years as a Training Officer. Steve has an Advanced Safety Certificate from the National Safety Council, is an instructor for the National Safety Council’s four-hour Defensive Driving Course, and is the current President of the Lancaster County Industrial Safety Council.
