Demystifying OSHA Consultation


This presentation will provide an overview of and PA OSHA Consultation Program and highlight the OSHA SHARP (Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program). The presentation will be conducted by David Yanoschick, CSP who serves as the PA SHARP Outreach Coordinator and Tom Hutchison, Plant Manager, Voestalpine Roll Forming Corporation. Tom will discuss their experiences working with the PA OSHA Consultation Program. Voestalpine achieved SHARP status in February 2018.

David Yanoschick is a certified safety professional who earned a Bachelor of Science in Safety Sciences from Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP). Before joining the Safety Sciences Department and the PA/OSHA Consultation Program at IUP in 2012, Mr. Yanoschick served as a senior health and safety professional for Curtiss-Wright Flow Control Corporation (CWFC), located in Cheswick, Pa. CWFC is a supplier of U.S. Navy nuclear propulsion and commercial nuclear power generation systems. While at CWFC, Mr. Yanoschick was responsible for providing safety and health technical guidance to management leadership and overseeing the overall health and safety management systems at the Cheswick facility, along with other business units through the country.  Prior to his time at CWFC, Mr. Yanoschick worked for a private consultation company, providing safety and health assistance for many manufacturing and construction companies.

Tom Hutchison, Plant Manager, Voestalpine Roll Forming Corporation

Tom Hutchison of voestalpine-RFC (Roll Forming Corporation) graduated from the U.S. Military Academy in 1987 with an electrical engineering degree and in 1998 earned his MBA from Pitt. Besides his service in the U.S. Army, Tom has worked in the steel processing and aluminum extrusion industries, holding various maintenance, engineering, and operations positions.  He has been a member of safety committees for all 27 years he has worked in manufacturing, including his present role as plant manager for voestalpine-RFC in Farrell, Pennsylvania. voestalpine - RFC represents a truly integrated metal forming partner. Capable of engineering and producing advanced, customizable components, RFC is addressing the critical needs of multiple markets worldwide. voestalpine-RFC was granted Pre-SHARP status in October 2016 and achieved in SHARP status in February 2018.
