Presenter Biography

Chris Fritz – Mr. Fritz is the Safety Specialist of the Glatfelter Spring Grove, Pennsylvania Facility. He joined Glatfelter in 2004 as the Safety and Health Specialist at the Chillicothe, Ohio Facility. Prior to working at Glatfelter, he worked in environmental consulting and waste dispositioning for the Department of Energy. Mr. Fritz attended Shawnee State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering Technologies. He also earned a Master of Science in Safety from Marshall University, and is a Certified Safety Professional.

Robin Medis, S-Coater Weighmaster / Union Safety Committee President, Glatfelter

 
Presenter Biography

Mrs. Medis is the Weighmaster at the Specialty Coater and Union Safety Committee President at the Glatfelter Spring Grove, Pennsylvania Facility. She joined Glatfelter in 1996 as a Finishing Trainee. During her tenure at Glatfelter, Mrs. Medis worked through the progression line at the Blade coater before transferring to the Specialty Coater as a Coating Prep Operator. Prior to working at Glatfelter, she worked for Appleton Papers for 5 years.

Karl Christianson, Mill Manager, Glatfelter  
Presenter Biography
Mr. Christianson is the Mill Manager of the Spring Grove, Pennsylvania Facility within Glatfelter’s Specialty Papers Business Unit. He joined Glatfelter in 2016 as the Director of Paper Mill Operations, Converting and Shipping in the Chillicothe, Ohio Facility.  Throughout his 34-year career, he has built a solid reputation as a skilled and innovative management professional, specializing in large facility and multi-site leadership. Mr. Christianson attended the University of Michigan where he obtained two Bachelor of Science degrees in Chemical Engineering and Material & Metallurgical Engineering.  He also holds a Master of Science in Industrial Administration, MBA, from the Krannert Graduate School of Management at Purdue University.

Jim Touey, OSHA Region III Labor Liaison  
Presenter Biography
Mr. Touey is the OSHA Region III Labor Liaison As the OSHA Region III Labor Liaison Mr. Touey is a facilitator between OSHA Region III and their stakeholders. He represents OSHA's Region III as a contact for OSHA's at meetings of employer organizations, trade associations, labor organizations as well as community and faith based organizations. Mr. Touey Evaluates the effectiveness of OSHA programs as they relate to employers, labor unions, organized and unorganized workers, day laborer organizations, interfaith worker centers and coalitions, COSH groups, and victims and families of victims of serious workplace safety and health incidents. Mr. Touey has been with OSHA for 20 years as a Compliance Officer, Compliance Assistance Specialist and Labor Liaison.
