About the Presentation

Fall hazards are a top cause of injury and death, and a most commonly cited standard in construction and general industry. Speaking from real-world experience, the presenters will review fall protection requirements, common mistakes, and practical solutions. The presentation will also review equipment and rescue options and equipment inspections. Attendees will be given an opportunity to ask questions and participate in hands-on demonstrations.

David Olah, Area Director, Harrisburg Area Office, OSHA         

 
Presenter Biography

Mr Olah began his career in the US Navy; he served on a destroyer in Charleston South Carolina and the aircraft carrier, USS Harry S. Truman, CVN-75 in Norfolk Virginia.  Shore duty assignments included Naval Air Station Bermuda where he was the chief criminal investigator and the Presidential Retreat, Camp David, where he assumed the duties of Fire Chief during the end of the George H. W. Bush administration and the beginning of the Clinton administration. His final tour of duty was aboard USS Bulkeley DDG 84 where he served as the Assistant Chief Engineer while deployed to the Persian Gulf during operation desert storm.  Following his retirement in 2004 he worked for JLG Industries in Shippensburg Pennsylvania where he was responsible for the final assembly and delivery of all rough terrain scissor lifts, the 400S and 450A boom lifts and the boom assembly department. In 2009 Mr Olah began his OSHA career as a Safety and Health Compliance Officer in the Harrisburg Area Office.  He spent two years as an Assistant Area Director and in 2016 was selected to fill the Area Director position

Presenter Biography

Mr. Kramer is a Senior Safety Consultant with close to 25 years of experience in the health and safety industry. He has successfully developed customized health and safety solutions for both public and private industry consulting clients. Mr. Kramer provides a full array of safety services to RETTEW's clientele in the construction, industrial, oil and gas, pharmaceutical, food manufacturing, and healthcare markets. His experience includes training, fall protection, safety program development, on-site/construction safety oversight, industrial hygiene, and site-specific engineering solutions.

Dale Glacken, Compliance Assistance Officer, OSHA  
Presenter Biography
Mr. Glacken has been with the US Department of Labor, OSHA for over 17 years.  Mr. Glacken earned his Bachelors of Science in Engineering from Penn State University in 1983 and became a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) in December 1995.  He has 34 years’ experience.  During his career he has been a Safety Engineer, Radiation Protection Officer, Safety Manager, Environmental Manager, OSHA Compliance Safety and Health Officer and finally a Compliance Assistance Specialist.
