About the Presentation

    • Moving dirt is a common activity on many construction jobsites.  However, the dangers that this activity presents – if not managed or respected – can be catastrophic in terms of lives, livelihoods, property, and the wallet. 
    • This seminar will focus on excavation & trench safety and the OSHA regulations that govern it.  It will also include an important presentation on the changeover of PA One Call enforcement from L&I to PUC and the impact this has on excavators.
    • The information presented will help attendees to identify, evaluate, and manage many of the hazards faced while digging.

Craig Shaffer, CSP, President, Safety Works, Inc.
Presenter Biography

Craig Shaffer is a Certified Safety Professional with over 25 years of occupational safety & health experience in the construction and manufacturing industries.  He holds a Bachelors degree in Physics from Penn State, is an authorized instructor for the construction OSHA-10 & OSHA-30 classes, and instructs American Heart & Red Cross 1st aid/CPR/AED.

Craig is regularly involved in field personnel training, site safety pre-planning and inspections, construction OSHA-10/30 classes, written safety policy development, seminar presentations, and OSHA compliance consultation.


Kevin Goldblum, Liaison Representative, PA One Call System  
Presenter Biography
Kevin Goldblum: is the Liaison Representative of the South Central Region for the Pennsylvania One Call System, Inc. Based in Camp Hill, he is responsible for the education and marketing of the One Call System within a 6 county area that includes Adams, Bedford, Cumberland, Franklin, Fulton, and York . He has been with PA One Call for 14 years.
