About the Presentation
"Struck-by” accidents continue to be a major contributor to deaths in the construction industry.  OSHA’s Fatal-4 list has consistently ranked “Struck-by” incidents as the 3rd leading cause of construction worker deaths in the US. This presentation will focus on “Struck-by” accidents with emphasis on rigging safety as a primary contributor.  It will include common industry accidents and how to prevent them.  Discussions and demonstrations will include basics on equipment pre-use inspections, proper applications of various rigging equipment, common mistakes made by workers, and several solutions to advance your company’s ‘Rigging Program’.  If your company lifts loads using cables, chains, slings and related devises… you MUST attend this session.

Presenter Biography

Ron Witt has been involved with safety and safety training for over 35 years.  His work experience includes mining, construction and general industry. As a safety professional Ron has provided a wide variety of training and consulting solutions to General Industry and Construction clients, as well as a Key Presenter at many east coast safety seminars and conferences. As a past instructor for Penn State and Drexel University, currently working with Lehigh- Carbon Community College, he is the owner of Catamount Ron Witt LLC.  Ron is a Certified MSHA Instructor, Master OSHA Instructor, ATSSA work zone Instructor and instructor for the Rigging Institute providing expertise in rigging, signaling and crane safety. Ron holds certifications from the NCCCO for both certified signal person and rigger.
